EDID6507: Needs Assessment for Learning and Performance

This was the seventh of eleven(11) core courses i undertook in the MSc in Instructional Design and Technology. In this course I got to create a needs assessment for two different case studies, one we were furnished with and one we had to create ourselves. In the first case study which we were provided with, we had to identify what was hindering teachers from becoming technologically literate and making maximum use of technology in the Master ELEMENTARY School. To further this assessment a multi-method approach was used; interview’s, surveys, questionnaires and documentary analysis. A gaps analysis was also carried out. The primary goal of our created case study was to identify what was hindering teachers from planning/scheming on a daily basis and in effect what is needed to help teachers become better and more consistent planners/schemers.

I viewed this course as an extension to EDID6505 Systems Approach to Designing Instructional Materials. We got to further explore the creation of a Needs Assessment.
