EDID6505: Systems Approach to Designing Instructional Materials

This was the third of eleven(11) core courses i undertook in the MSc in Instructional Design and Technology. In this course we learnt about Task Analysis, the sequence for accomplishing a task analysis, its purpose and how to select tasks for analysis, how to conduct a needs assessment and how to compile a task selection worksheet and to select the most important tasks for further analysis. We also learnt how to perform procedural and prerequisites analysis of a task. We investigated the role of the designer. We then got to create a Needs Assessment Plan for a program/workshop in our environment, which included a draft, procedural and prerequisite Task Analysis, objectives, Assessment, power point lesson and task selection worksheet.

I enjoyed this course and was extremely happy that I was able to implement the information learnt in this course immediately into my school, by using the needs assessment plan created during the course to host a workshop to inform teachers on the procedures involved in completing the register.
